How to Establish a Remote connection to Your Computer

You can connect to your computer remotely, allowing you to do more and to access their work files from home. This article provides step by step to connect remotely to your computer.

The remote desktop service is used for many different purposes by both home and business users. Computer technicians and network administrators use remote desktop to troubleshoot PCs and servers in remote locations without having to drive to a distant office.

Ordinary workers use the Remote Desktop service to access their work computers from home, eliminating the need to go to the office after hours to retrieve a file or solve a problem. Learn how to configure and use this service can help you be more productive, both at home and at work.

Configure access to remote computer:

1. Go to the computer you want to access remotely, and click the “My Computer” icon. Click the “Remote” tab.

2. Make sure all the boxes in the remote section checked. Click “OK” to confirm your selections.

3. Click the “Computer Name” tab and note the full computer name.
You will need this name to connect to your PC remotely.

4. Go to “Start” button and select “Run” from the list of options. Type “cmd” into the box and click “OK.” Type “IP Configuration” in the prompt and enter the IP address of the computer. You can use the computer name or IP address to connect.
Remote Connection

1. Go to another computer and click the Start button. Select “Run” from the menu.

2. Type “mstsc” in the box and click “OK.” Type the name or IP address of the computer you want to connect, and then click the “Connect” button.

3. Enter your username and password to log on the remote computer. You will use the same ID and password you would if you were physically sitting at the computer.
So you can control the remote computer is now sitting.

Data visualizations are sometimes pretty cool. This chart that shows the number of servers for various companies uses size and color to help the reader distinguish the different values.
